Takeshi, the leader of “Myogi Night Kids,” a team of mischievous drivers, is not a drifter but a grip driver who aims for a better time.

After starting his career in his GT-R, nobody could beat him. But when he challenges Takumi, who has already defeated Keisuke at that time, he oversteers, resulting in a crash that made him lose the race.

The GT-R depicted in the manga is a V-Spec II model with a NISMO front bumper and WORK wheels installed.

And due to the influence of manga and video games, the R32 is now very popular not only in Japan but also in the United States. All R32s are now more than 25 years old, making it legal to drive on roads even the car is a right-hand drive. This eventually led to soaring prices in the second-hand market.

Shingo also is a member of Myogi Night Kids and is faster than Takeshi when racing downhills. But his strategy where he doesn’t mind bumping into rivals to lead them into crashing made the two at odds in the same team. And he also challenges Akina’s AE86, which Nakazato lost.

The only modification that can be seen in the manga is the Mugen wheels, and just like Takeshi’s GT-R, other modifications remain unknown.

Back in the mid-1990s when Initial D originally started as a manga series, the EG6 Civic was so popular that whenever you went to a touge, you would always see some EG6s running around.

Today, the EG6 would be considered a classic, but due to the large number of cars sold, there are still many cars available in the second-hand market.

Because the author himself is a gearhead, many of the cars that were actually favored by racers in the ‘90s appear in the manga with customization popular at that time.

In addition, characters in the manga all match the type of cars they drive, which is another factor that makes the series enjoyable.

Even after the series ended in 2013, Initial D continues to be very popular, and there are many fans who are looking forward to the sequel.
